' for pin holes, abrasions, or tears, exhalation valve seats <br /> are smooth, exhalation valves are replaced; lock Is <br /> Intact; exhalation valve guard Is In place. <br /> O Line breather regulator - check gasket for facepiece <br /> seal, check hose for tears, cracks, or abrasions, check <br /> by-pass valve, check alarm sound at 500psi + or - 50pst, <br /> inspect facepiece as outlined for air purifying respirator. <br /> Report any discrepancies to the safety officer. <br /> O Self-contained breathing apparatus - inspect "O" <br /> ring at tank connection, inspect hoses for cracks, tears <br /> or abrasions, check by-pass valve, check alarm sound at <br /> 500psi + or - 50psi, inspect straps, Inspect facepiece as <br /> outlined for air purifying respirator. Report any <br /> discrepancies to the safety officer. <br /> All respiratory equipment inspected except the SCBA <br /> shall be placed in a clear plastic bag, sealed, and <br /> tagged with a respirator Identification number, the <br /> date of the inspection and name of the inspector. The <br /> SCBA shall be placed In its appropriate carrier or <br /> "walk-a-way" bracket and a tag with a respirator <br /> identification number, the date of the inspection and <br /> name of the inspector shall be placed on the handle. All <br /> tags shall be placed in such a manner that they must be <br /> ripped off before the bag or carrier can be opened. All <br /> respiratory protective equipment shall be stored in an <br /> area free of dust and contamination and in such a manner <br /> that precludes crushing or other force that could cause <br /> facepiece distortion. <br /> Before each use a cursory inspection as outlined above will <br /> be performed to ensure the previous Inspection was adequate. <br /> In addition a "face fit" inspection shall be accomplished <br /> prior to use. All facepieces shall be sanitized using a <br /> Scott "fresh kit". No disinfectants such as Lysol that <br /> could damage the inhalation/exhalation valves or any other <br /> rubber parts shall be used. No respirator may be worn by <br /> another person until it has been sanitized. <br /> MAINTENANCE; <br /> When practical all permanent operations employees will <br /> be issued their own Scott 652-L facepiece. Spare facepieces <br /> shall be maintained in inventory for Issuance to certified <br /> temporary and/or part time employees. Each employee shall <br /> be responsible for inspection, cleaning, and sanitizing their <br /> own facepiece. The safety officer shall maintain a supply <br /> of spare parts such as inhalation/exhalation valves, clips, <br /> gaskets, screws, guards, and deflectors. The safety officer <br /> will accomplish all repairs on respirators. All necessary <br /> repairs on air supplied hose line breathers and self-contained <br /> breathing apparatus shall be forwarded to an approved Draeger <br /> repair facility for needed repairs. <br /> SELECTION CRITERIA; <br /> The safety officer shall determine the levels of respiratory <br /> protection to be worn. Selection criteria shall be periodically <br /> reviewed. At any time an atmosphere has been measured to <br /> contain less than 19.5% oxygen, 20% or more of the Lower <br /> Explosive Limit of a flammable vapor, or has been determined <br /> to be an IDLH atmosphere positive pressure self-contained <br /> 5 - <br />
