TELIC ENGINEERING CORPORATION (TEC) STANDARD OPERATING <br /> PROCEDURE (SOP) # 88.002 <br /> MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE PROGRAM <br /> SCOPE; <br /> It is the intent of this SOP to provide all TEC employees <br /> with mandatory guidelines for: annual medical examinations: <br /> ongoing surveillance of conditions which may have an adverse <br /> impact on employee's health; and early detection and treatment. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS: <br /> The environmental health considerations associated with the <br /> nature of the work performed by TEC employees demonstrates <br /> the need for, and implementation of a sound medical surveillance <br /> program. NCC employees may be exposed to materials that have <br /> the potential for an adverse acute or chronic effect. Therefore, <br /> a base-line annual physical examination will be established as <br /> well as an ongoing surveillance program. <br /> GOALS: <br /> The goals set forth by TEC are: <br /> O Provide a safe working environment for you and your <br /> co-workers. <br /> O Comply fully with all governmental regulations and requirements relative to health <br /> and safety. <br /> O Maintain high standards of performance in the areas <br /> of environmental protection, Industrial health, emergency <br /> response activities, and hazardous material/waste mitigation <br /> activities. <br /> O Conduct all operations within safety and health <br /> standards and guidelines established TEC. <br /> O Initiate and MAINTAIN a rigid Medical Surveillance <br /> Program. <br /> O Develop and implement an Intensive in-house training <br /> program. <br /> The entire foundation of a good environmental health <br /> program lies in the medical surveillance portion of the <br /> program. The medical surveillance program is designed <br /> to protect the Individual by means of early detection <br /> and subsequent treatment of any potential health problem <br /> that may arise not only as a result of his or her activity <br /> as an TEC employee, but his or her activities in their <br /> respective daily lives as well. The practical application <br /> of a good medical surveillance program is developed of a <br /> sound base-line physical examination and medical history <br /> followed by early detection and treatment of any abnormality <br /> that may arise. Detection does not necessarily Indicate an <br /> individual must display symptoms in order to effect early <br /> detection, but detection by means of personnel and site <br /> monitoring will frequently suggest medical testing and <br />
