• If an employee has difficulty in breathing during the fit test or during use, he <br />shall be evaluated medically to determine if he can wear a respirator safely while <br />performing assigned tasks. <br />• No employee shall be assigned to tasks requiring the use of respirators if, based <br />upon the most recent examination, a physician determines that the health or <br />safety of the employee will be impaired by respirator use. <br />• Contact lenses shall not be worn while using any type of respiratory protection. <br />• Air -supplied respirators shall be assembled according to manufacturer's <br />specifications. Hose length, couplings, valves, regulators, manifolds and all <br />accessories shall meet ANSI and the manufacturers requirements. <br />• Respirators shall be cleaned and sanitized daily after use. <br />• Respirators shall be stored in a convenient, clean and sanitary location on site. <br />• Respirators shall be inspected during cleaning. Worn or deteriorated parts shall <br />be replaced. <br />• Facial hair that might interfere with a good facepiece seal or proper operation of <br />the respirator is prohibited. <br />The SSHO shall review the respiratory protection program daily to ensure employees are <br />properly wearing and maintaining their respirators and that the respiratory protection is <br />adequately protecting the employees. <br />3.8 Medical Surveillance <br />3.8.1 Physical Examinations <br />All IT field personnel and on-site subcontractors will have completed a preplacement or <br />annual physical examination meeting the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120.
