Site Safety Plan for Excavation Activities April 8, 1996 <br /> Military Department OMS#24-Stockton <br /> PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> PROJECT MANAGER: Seward Schreder, Seward L. Schreder Construction <br /> HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: The project manager will direct <br /> overall site activities, and provide the authorization to proceed with work at the site. He <br /> will ensure that the site supervisor and the site safety officer follow this SSP. He may <br /> imposes additional procedures to enhance site safety. <br /> SITE SUPERVISOR/ HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER: Seward Schreder, Seward L. <br /> Schreder Construction <br /> HEALTH& SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: The site supervisor/ site officer will direct <br /> site activities during excavation and sampling to assure that this SSP is followed. The <br /> primary responsibilities of the site safety officer are as follows: <br /> • Advise the project manager on all health and safety related matters at the site. <br /> • Implement the health and safety plan. <br /> • Conduct worker exposure assessments to determine levels of personal equipment <br /> protection. <br /> • Ensure that the site personnel and other field personnel observe the proper work <br /> practices and decontamination procedures. <br /> • Ensure the safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)is on site at all <br /> times during field work. <br /> • Exercise stop work authority upon determination of an imminent safety hazard, <br /> emergency situations, or other potentially dangerous situation ( e.g., weather <br /> conditions). <br /> • Report any safety violation to the project manager. <br /> 2 <br />
