Phase H Site Assessment Workplan/Health and Safety Plan October 1996
for the Lodi RaibMultimodal Station Project No. E168-1
The anticipated chemicals of concern include petroleum products, heavy metals, and
chlorinated hydrocarbons associated with former service stations. Chemicals anticipated
include:
Benzene: A clear colorless liquid with a specific gravity less than water and a moderately
high water solubility. Benzene exhibits a low boiling point and high vapor pressure.
Toluene: A colorless liquid with a benzol-like odor having a specific gravity less than water.
Toluene is insoluble in water and exhibits a moderately high boiling point and relatively low
vapor pressure.
Xylenes: A colorless Liquid having a specific gravity less than water. Xylenes are insoluble
' in water and exhibit a high boiling point and a relatively moderate vapor pressure.
Ethylbenzene: A colorless liquid with an aromatic odor having a specific gravity less than
1 water. Ethylbenzene is insoluble in water and exhibits a high boiling point and a relatively
moderate vapor pressure.
Perchlorethylene: A colorless liquid with a mild, chloroform-like odor having a specific
gravity greater than water. Perchlorethylene is has a low solubility in water and exhibits a
high boiling point and relatively moderate vapor pressure.
tTrichloroethene: A colorless liquid with a mild, chloroform-like odor having a specific
gravity greater than water. Trichloroethene is has a low solubility in water and exhibits a
high boiling point and relatively moderate vapor pressure.
5. Planned Site Activities (Be specific, identify personnel per task and include expected
start date of activities.)
' Start dateP ending receipt of permit. Project Geologist in charge of all site activities is
Patrick Fischer. Work will include:
A. Drilling and sampling of approximately 12 soil borings
B. Trenching (and possible sampling) of approximately 12 backhoe pits primarily to
' identify subsurface objects.
2
V ESPAIVA GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTING
