(b) CWC Code: #213
(c) Processes, operations, and activities generating the waste, with
i. corresponding block diagram: See Appendix A.
Star Building Systems previously had used a naphtha base cleaning
solvent, for a parts cleaning operation in the Maintenance Department.
This service was provided by SafetyKleen, of Salida California and
generated less than 100 gallons of hazardous waste per year.
This process, and related equipment was replaced with a water-soluble
cleaning agent provided by the same vendor, that will not generate the
same volume, or type of hazardous waste.
(7) CWC Code# 331 —Waste Sludge
(a) Estimate of the weight, in pounds, of waste generated at the site per year: 600 pounds per
year.
(b) CWC Code: #331
(c) Processes, operations, and activities generating the waste, with
i. corresponding block diagram: See Appendix A.
Star Buildings generates less than 55-gallons of waste sludge from an
outdoor vehicle wash rack. This is a closed loop system that circulates and
recycles the same water for washing vehicles and equipment for the
manufacturing facility.
A sump has been provided for waste collection, and this is periodically
cleaned, and the waste stored at a satellite collection area, for pick up and
disposal. This waste is stored for 180 days, or less, and then transported by
North State Environmental to Chemical Waste Management in Kettleman
City, California.
(8) CWC Code# 221 —Waste Oil
(a) Estimate of the weight, in pounds, of waste generated at the site per year: 2,010 pounds
per year.
(b) CWC Code: #221
(c) Processes, operations, and activities generating the waste, with
i. corresponding block diagram: See Appendix A.
Star Buildings generates an average of 600 gallons of waste lubricating oil
per year. This waste is generated from vehicle, and machinery
maintenance, and stored in a 250-gallon tank for disposal. This waste is
picked up on a periodic basis by American Valley Waste Oil of Delhi, CA,
and recycled.
9
