Mr. Smith indicated that both <br /> tanks contained treated waste. (photo #20, 21) <br /> HAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE AREA: <br /> Over twenty hazardous waste barrels were found in the <br /> hazardous waste storage area. The barrels were stored so <br /> close together that it was impossible to read all the labels. <br /> One label was torn and the accumulation start date was not <br /> legible. (photo #22) Seven hazardous waste barrels were found <br /> having start dates greater than 90 days. These dates were as <br /> follows: <br /> 3-24-93 5-20-93 <br /> 4-5-93 4-1-93 <br /> 4-26-93 2-4-93 <br /> 3-10-93 <br /> One 15 gallon container marked with large letters as "empty" , <br /> was found unlabeled and obviously full of liquid. Mr. Smith <br /> confirmed that the container was full. I asked Mr. Smith if <br /> he knew what was in the container. Mr. Smith indicated that <br /> the container contained untreated waste water. <br /> One 55 gallon hazardous waste barrel in the storage area was <br /> found to be leaking around the bottom edge. (photo #25) <br /> Mr. Ito asked Mr. Smith if he had any safety equipment <br /> available in the hazardous waste and treatment area, such as <br /> eye wash, phone, protective gear or any other safety <br /> equipment. Mr. Smith stated that he did not have a phone or <br /> eyewash in the area. Mr. Smith stated that if a person was <br /> injured he could come up to the front office. Mr. Smith, when <br /> told of the need for eye wash and decontamination ability <br /> stated, "I have a hose. " <br /> Several barrels and containers were found throughout the <br /> storage area without covers. (photo #23 , 24) A metal lined <br /> depression in the concrete was noted near some hazardous waste <br /> barrels. The depression was full of water and a dead beetle <br /> was laying next to it. This area appeared stained. (photo #26) <br /> BATCH TREATMENT AREA: <br /> The batch treatment tank was found to be located approximately <br /> two feet from the fence line.
