CFC, 8002.2.1.2.1
E. Direct the exhaust ventilation to an exhaust system. CFC, 8003.1.3.5.1
F. The treatment system shall be utilized to handle the accidental release of gas. The
treatment system shall be utilized to process all exhaust ventilation to be discharged
from the gas room. CFC, 8003.3.1.3.5
G. Emergency power shall be provided in lieu of standby power for:
1) Exhaust ventilation, including the power supply for treatment systems
2) Gas detection systems
3) Emergency alarm systems
4) Temperature-control systems
CFC 8001.10.3 and 8003.3.1.4
5. A continuous gas-detection system shall be provided to detect the presence of gas at or
below the permissible exposure limit. The detection system shall initiate a local alarm
and transmit a signal to a constantly attended control station. The alarm shall be both
visual and audible. CFC, 8003.3.1.6
6. Gas rooms shall be internally sprinkerled. CFC, 8004.2.3.7.3
7. The repair shop shall not be in the same room as the chlorine storage and transferring
process. There must be a 2-hour occupancy separation between the chlorine
transferring room (H-2 occupancy) and shop area (B occupancy). CFC, Table 36,
Appendix VI-E
Sampling Station
1. Provide approved storage of hazardous liquid waste under the sink. The open bucket
capturing the waste liquids of reagent chemicals dumped down the open sink does not
comply with the code as an approved container. The liquid waste chemicals shall have
secondary containment. CFC. 8004.2.2. And 8001.4.2.
2. Repair the "OFF GAS' system that is leaking sodium hypochlorite solution into the
secondary containment tank. The secondary containment tank is approximately 90% full.
Remove all material from the secondary containment tank. CFC, 8003.1.3.3
3. Secure the shelving and provide a lip on the shelving for storage of the one-gallon
containers of reagent liquids. CFC, 8001.11.9
4. Separate the reagent liquids that are not compatible. Separate the hypochlorites from
the acids. CFC, 8001.11
5. Shelving shall be of substantial construction, adequately braced and anchored. Shelves
shall be provided with a lip or guard when used for storage of individual containers. CFC
8001.11.9
Chlorine Fill Line
1. Provide secondary containment around the fill line area. Chlorine liquid is spreading
along the floor to storage area. Floors shall be liquid-tight with raised sills and a
collection sump or system. CFC, 8004.1.4
2. Post signs prohibiting smoking in dispensing areas or open use areas.
