3 . WASTE CHEMICAL STORAGE
Waste chemical storage is done in a fenced-in area which has a locked
gate . Waste material is stored in 55 gallon poly drums with opened
end used for stripper; 55 gallon closed top metal drums used for
solvents; 55 gallon D.O.T. 17 H rated poly lined drums with lock ring
covers for solid waste .
' All waste entering the storage area at INDY is recorded by chemical
name and segregated and recorded as to type . Material Safety Data
Sheets are maintained for each raw material that provides physical
data on each chemical .
All waste storage drums are segregated according to compatibility and
each drum is labeled as to contents, i .e . EMPYROL WASTE, FREON WASTE,
and WASTE BRIGHT DIP . The outside of the fenced-in storage area is
marked with caution signs .
The waste at INDY is either treated, recycled or sent to a dump site .
When it is sent to a dump site, it is manifested and taken to an
approved dump site by a licensed hauler .
