.. Lodi Metal Tech, Inc.
Chronology of Events
Wastewater Release 8/24/2006
Next Mr. Merrill called the Governor's Office of Emergency Services, California State
Warning Center to provide notification of the release. Mr. Merrill, again, described the
incident, the actions taken to control the release and the actions planned by LMT, to
mitigate any potential impact on the City Of Lodi storm drain system. Mr. Merrill's
notification was assigned control number 06-5065 by the California State Warning
Center.
08/24/06 11:00
Mr. Merrill contacted Mr. Bradley with the City of Lodi and indicated that LMT was
prepared to pump the storm drain contents into a tank truck.
08/24/06 11:30
Ms. Lori Luces of the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services called Mr.
Merrill and indicated she would visit LMT that afternoon.
08/24/06 13:10
Ms. Luces visited the LMT, viewed the release site and issued a notice to abate. LMT
was directed to handle all hazardous waste "in accordance with 'Title 22' (hazardous
waste regulations) and for LMT to notify the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency
Services when clean up was scheduled.
08/24/06 14:15
Mr. Merrill drove to Jim Thorpe Oil, a local company with much experience handling
spills, and spoke with Jamie about hiring a tank truck to pump the released wastewater
out of any storm drains that it had entered. Jamie did not have a truck available at that
moment but would have one for LMT's use at 8:00 Friday morning.
08/24/06 15:30
LMT received a call from the City of Lodi Public Works Department. They had
determined where LMT's release was located. The release had not stayed in the line
between LMT's storm drain#8 and the City of Lodi's lift station as LMT had believed.
Rather, it flowed north to E. Pine St. then turned west and entered a sump at the
intersection of E. Pine St. and Kelly St. From there it continued west to a sump at the
intersection of Beckman Rd. and E. Pine St. The storm water line then turned south
along Beckman Rd. but a check of the next sump on the line showed no water in the
sump, indicating it was all contained in the first two sumps. The City of Lodi determined
that our released water was completely contained in their system and had not reached the
ditch on Beckman Rd.
3 of 6
