U-Haul <br /> Facility Number 7$9-2:� <br /> S- ,cL-ti fi,, California <br /> HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN <br /> Page 3 <br /> 1.2 PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> The Health and Safety Plan is intended to describe the minimum procedural and equipment <br /> requirements for the protection of HBC employees, U-Haul personnel, subcontractors, and the <br /> public who may be affected by the work requirements. Operating conditions may be expected to <br /> change as the work progresses, requiring some modifications to the plan. As appropriate, <br /> addenda will be provided by the HBC Senior Safety Officer. <br /> The plan is designed to comply with established HBC policies and procedures, and applicable <br /> state, federal, and local regulations. Therefore, no changes to the plan will be authorized without <br /> prior approval of the Senior Safety Officer. All HBC personnel, site visitors, and subcontractor <br /> personnel are subject to this directive. <br /> SECTION 2.0 <br /> 2.1 SENIOR SAFETY OFFICER <br /> The senior safety officer (Scott Tingle) reports to HBC management and is responsible for on- <br /> site safety and loss prevention functions. His major responsibilities include: <br /> A. Health surveillance of all HBC employees; <br /> B. Assuring that safety procedures in effect are in compliance with appropriate federal, state, <br /> and local regulations; <br /> C. Assuring appropriate personal protective equipment is adequate for actual hazards of on- <br /> site conditions; <br /> D. Coordination of health emergency plans with the local medical facilities; <br /> E. Establishing and coordinating fit-testing for all respiratory protective devices to be used <br /> on site; and, <br /> F. Establishment of site-specific safety procedures for problems that may be encountered on <br /> site. <br />
