e
The Applicant represents that it is following all
requirements stated by federal law ,
( 29CFR 1910 . 1200 ; 43 FR 53230 ) , as well as California
law ( California Labor Code Division 5 , Chapter 2 . 5
which contains hazardous substances information and
training , and Title 8 of California Administrative
Code , Section 5194 (MSDS ) , and 3204 (access to medical
exposure records ) .
A more detailed explanation is provided below :
SO 2 - wine additive . This product is stored in sealed
cylinders on concrete or asphalt near a drain. The
product is stored out of direct sunlight and is near shower
and eye-wash facilities . Employees using this substance
wear acid-gas respirators and goggels . In addition , when
this substance is transferred from one cylinder to another,
a 10% sodium hydroxide solution is utilized along with a
bleed-off valve to nutralize any vented vapors . If leakage
takes place during the use of this product , employees are
trained to evacuate the area , to put on a survival air
respirator and at that point , move the damaged cylinder to
an outside drain at which time it is hosed down with copias
quantity of water .
Ammonia - for refrigeration units . No employees of the
applicant actually handle this substance . Our outside
vendor loads our refrigeration holding tanks directly , and
these tanks are an enclosed system . If there is a leak , our
employees are instructed to shut down the refrigeration
machine , to close off the appropriate valve that would
eliminate the supply of ammonia to the leaking area and to
immediately wash the atmosphere with water .
-25-
