IV. MONITORING DOUBLE-WALLED TANKS: (CONTINUATION)
It also contains an audible "BUZZER ALARM" to alert operators to a possible leak,
a RED power Indicator Light, Each probe is connected to a separate Channel.
The probes are Liquid Indicators detecting moisture at either the Annular Space
or pipeline collection sump.
1 . When the system is operating normally, the GREEN Indicator Lights in
Channels 1 ,2,3. and 4 (MODEL LA-04) and Channels 1 ,2,3,and 4 ( RONAN
X76) will be lit.
2. If a leak is detected, the probe sensing the leak, will trigger a RED Liquid
Indicator Light beneath the appropriate channel. The "BUZZER ALARM" will
sound, and the RED Power Light will be lit. Investigate the alarm conditions
by performing a circuit test.
3. To perform a circuit test, press the switch labeled LIQUID at the bottom left
center of the panel. If operating properly, all of the Liquid Indicator Lights and
the Power Indicator Light will be lit, and the Alarm will sound. If only one, or
neither of the indicators respond, the system is malfunctioning, Immediately
contact you service representative,
4. A circuit test will be performed weekly to confirm operational status of the
LEAK ALERT System. A log will be maintained to document test performance
and results. Also log instances of Alarm and actions taken.
V. LEAK DETECTION RESPONSE PLAN:
The following Leak Detection Response actions will be initiated when a leak is
either suspected or confirmed.
A. UNLEADED GASOLINE/DIESEL FUEL:
1 . A.leak will be suspected when a "BUZZER ALARM" sounds and a RED
Liquid Indicator Light is lit in either of the channel indicators on the tank
monitoring panel.
2. Investigate the alarm and contact the service representative to report the
problem. Provide as much information as possible, i.e., Unit Serial
Number, nature of problem, special circumstance, etc. Remove the tank
from service pending confirmation of alarm condition. CONTACT THE
CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL DEPARTMENT,
3. A leak will be confirmed as a result of investigation and test findings of
the service representative, as to nature, extent and location of leak
source, i.e., inner tank, outer tank, piping system, etc. Upon leak
confirmation, CONTACT THE CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSULTANT and take the following actions:
-3-
