General Requirements <br /> 4 of 8 <br /> H. Compressed Air: Contractor shall provide its own generation of compressed air for <br /> Contractor's air tools. Contractor shall provide all proper hoses for running pneumatic <br /> tools. <br /> 1. Areas for Construction Purposes <br /> 1. Contractor shall limit the activities and operations of their employees and <br /> subcontractors to the construction boundaries of the area designated by PG&E. <br /> 1.04 WORK PROTECTION AND SAFEGUARDS <br /> A. Safety: Contractor shall plan and conduct the Work to safeguard persons and property <br /> from injury. Contractor shall provide and maintain sufficient lanterns, barriers, barricades, <br /> temporary walks, platforms, and other safeguards as required for the safety of their <br /> employees and others in the vicinity, as required by Federal, State, and local laws, rules, <br /> and regulations including, but not limited to, "Occupational Safety and Health Standards." <br /> Neither the giving of special instructions by PG&E nor the adherence thereto by <br /> Contractor shall relieve Contractor of the sole responsibility to maintain safe and efficient <br /> working conditions. Nothing contained in the Specification shall relieve Contractor from <br /> furnishing and maintaining stretchers, blankets, first aid kits, and any other emergency <br /> medical supplies as required by any applicable safety orders of the Division of <br /> Occupational Safety and health, or as required by other Federal, State, or local laws, <br /> rules, or regulations. The cost of all Work including the installation of equipment and <br /> facilities required to provide and maintain safe working conditions shall be included in the <br /> lump-sum bid. <br /> 1. Contractor shall maintain clean and orderly Work and storage areas at all times <br /> during the progress of the Work in accordance with the General Conditions which <br /> shall be rigidly enforced. <br /> 2. Upon completion of the Work, Contractor shall remove all tools and construction <br /> equipment from the work site and shall leave the area in a clean and orderly <br /> condition. <br /> B. Protection: Contractor shall also provide satisfactory protection and safeguards for: <br /> 1. The property of others, including equipment and material supplied by PG&E. <br /> During performance of the Work, care and protection of existing work, PG&E's <br /> equipment, and adjacent areas shall be the responsibility of Contractor. Dust and <br /> noise shall be kept at a minimum. Contractor shall provide protection, including <br /> barricades between (a) PG&E employees and PG&E's equipment, and (b) <br /> Contractor's equipment and Contractor's active Work. <br /> 2. Fire Protection: During the progress of any work requiring the use of welding and <br /> cutting equipment of heat-, flame-, or spark-producing devices, there shall be at <br /> the work site adequate shields, guards, or covering placed so as to protect <br />
