7.0 ON-SITE COMMUNICATION PROCEDURES <br /> ' 7.1 "Buddy System" <br /> ' Personnel on-site will use the "buddy" system (pairs). Buddies should use prearranged <br /> hand signals or other means of emergency signals for communication. <br /> ' 7.2 Hand Signals <br /> ' In emergencies, the following hand signals are suggested: <br /> - Hand gripping throat: Out of air, can't breath. <br /> ' - Grip partner's wrist or place both hands around waist: Leave area immediately, no <br /> debate. <br /> - Hands on top of head: Needs assistance. <br /> ' - Thumbs up: OK, I'm all right, I understand. <br /> Thumbs down: No, negative. <br /> ' 7.3 Visual Contact <br /> Visual contact will be maintained between "pairs" on-site with the team remaining in <br /> ' close proximity in order to assist each other in case of emergencies. Field crew members <br /> will inform each other on non-visual effects of toxic exposure: <br /> ' - Headaches <br /> Dizziness <br /> ' - Blurred Vision <br /> Cramps <br /> - Irritation of eyes, skin or respiratory tract <br /> ' In the event that any member of the field crew experiences any adverse effects or <br /> symptoms of exposure while on the scene, the entire field crew will immediately halt <br /> ' work and act according to the instructions provided by the HSO. <br /> ' 8.0 SPILL CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES <br /> In the event that a spill of hazardous substances (gasoline, oil, etc.) occurs during the <br /> ' implementation of field activities, spill containment will be utilized to prevent the <br /> additional migration of contaminants through the site area.
