The Contractor is responsible for any design, materials, equipment, permits, etc. , for shoring or sloping a hole. 6-150.04 FILL AND BA=LL A. All fill material shall be of a granular nature, free from vegetation and extraneous material. Owner's Representative shall inspect and approve the material before it is spread. Spread material in lifts not to exceed 12 inches and tarp thoroughly. B. APPROVED BACKFILL MATERIALS: The following materials shall be used up to 12" above the tank: 1. PEA GRAVEL: A clean, naturally rounded aggregate with a 1/8" minimum and a 3/4" maximum diameter. Up to 3% of the particles may pass through a #8 sieve. 2. STONE OR GRAVEL CRUSHINGS: Washed material, with particle size between 1/8" and 1/211. Up to 3% of the particles may pass through a #8 sieve. 3. Approved materials must be dry, free of ice and snow, and meet ASTM C-33, Para. 9.1 for quality and soundness. VERIFY THAT BACKFILL MATERIAL IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH TANK MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS. BACKFILL ABOVE THE TANK SHALL BE AGGREGATE BASE, CLASS II, COMPACTED TO 95% R.C. PER THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. C. BEDDING OF TANKS 1. A 12" minimum bed of backfill material is to be placed in the hole, smoothe and sloped to allow a tank slope of 1" in 10' downward toward the fill end prior to setting the tank. 6-150.06 TANK HOLE Imo= A. Contractor is to provide and install a Filter Fabric Tank Hole Liner. 1. The entire tank hole (sides and bottom) shall be covered. Lay the fabric with 2 foot minimum overlaps. The top of the tank backfill shall also be covered with cutouts for risers, etc. 2. Bedding material is to be placed on the top of the filter fabric. Excess fabric at the top of the hole should be folded over the backfill materila at subgrade level. B. APPROVED FILTER FABRIC MATERIAL: Dupont "Typar" Spunbond Polypropylene - Style 3401; Phillips Fibers Corp. - "Supac 4np1l; Hoechst "Trevira" Sptnnbond 1115.
