Section Number: 2-1 <br />Issue Date: 05/06/2010 <br />Revision Date: <br />Page 16 of 16 <br />Regulatory Requirements <br />Regulatory notification is required for the following: <br />• installation of a new UST • confirmed release from a UST <br />• permanent closure of a UST • suspected release from a UST <br />All USTs must be: <br />• installed to industry standards <br />• equipped with spill control systems <br />• equipped with corrosion protection <br />• equipped with automatic tank level <br />monitoring <br />Recordkeeping Requirements <br />Maintain the following in your UST file: <br />• installed by a certified UST contractor <br />• equipped with overfill protection <br />• equipped with leak detection systems <br />• equipped with automatic shut-off valves <br />• monitoring results for the previous year and the most recent tightness test results, <br />• manufacturer's performance claims for the leak detection system, <br />• records of maintenance, repair and calibration of leak detection equipment, <br />• corrosion protection systems inspection reports for the last two years, <br />• UST closure documentation report for three years, <br />• records of UST repair or upgrades, and <br />• other local or state documentation requirements, such as annual fees and certificates. <br />What to Do in the Event of a Release <br />In the event of a release from a UST, Contact Operations Support at 847/397-9500. <br />They will help determine if the release is reportable and, if so, the proper reporting <br />procedures. <br />
