Charter Way, Stockton, CA
March 2, 1992 = Pale 2 of 3 _ — _ _ - - —
obvious sign of contamination, there appeared to be some discolored
soil descending to a depth of approximately 6 or 7 feet extending
- westerl-y from the eastern edge of the excavation along both sides to
a point about midway in the excavation. . Soil sample analyses results
indicate no detectable amounts of chemicals tested for in the samples
taken from the pit. The spoil pile sample indicated a level of
13,000 ug/kg Xylene, 1 ,000 mg/kg TPH-G, and 55 mg/kg Total* Lead. A
subsequent W.E.T. was performed by GeoAnalytical Laboratories, results
indicate a level of 1 .3 mg/kg Lead. Copies of all analyses and tank
tracking records are attached. Spoil pile is at the southeast of the
excavation in front of the shop building. (See attached drawing
marked "Existing". ) Spoil was placed on plastic sheeting and was
covered with same. The excavation was left open pending further
investigation. Copies of San Joaquin Health Services/Envi.ronmental
Health Department Closure Plan, rinsate receipt, tank tracking record
and City of Stockton Fire Permit and soil sample analyses are attached.
5. Laboratory that will collect soil samples: GeoAnalytical Laboratories,
Modesto, CA. A signed "Release of Information Authorization" is attached.
6. Steps: Remediation of the existing contamination associated with this
tank removal project should be accomplished in two steps:
Re excavation and Spoil Disposal .
The first step will be to excavate an area starting at a point
past the mid line of the excavation easterly to a poilit 10 feet beyond
the existing end of the pit to a depth of 12 feet and a width of 18
feet or approximately 5 feet past the existing boundry. The result-
ing excavation will be approximately ,18 feet in length. by 18 feet
wide by 12 feet deep. (See drawing marked "Proposed".) The total
amount of soil removed will be approximately 144 cubic yards, including
the spoil previously removed and the area taken up by the tank. An
W appropriate number of soil samples will be taken. A minimum of one
soil sample per sidewall and two bottom samples will be taken: Sidewall
samples will be taken two feet up the wall from the bottom of the pit
approximately midway across the length.and width of the pit. Bottom
samples .will be taken at appropriate locations. All samples will be
taken at the direction .of Wm. J. Hunter and Associates and San Joaquin
u
