(CSI). The Request references the results
of the data collected during the second quarter 2008 groundwater monitoring, which CSI attached in
an email to me on 11 June 2008. The Request notes the presence of low concentrations of ethanol,
methanol, methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME) across the site; and
suggests those detections may represent an anomalous set of data for the above sampling event.
CSI proposes to resample select wells and take split samples from each well, to be analyzed by two
separate laboratories (Kill Analytical of Davis and California Laboratory Services of Rancho
Cordova). The proposed wells are MW-4B, MW-7B, MW-813, MW-10B, MW-10D, MW-11B, MW-
12A, and EW-5. The laboratories will be instructed to use the same analyses used during the
second quarter 2008 sampling event. Copies of the data will be forwarded to our office upon CST's
receipt of the data from the laboratories. CSI proposes to work with Regional Board staff if
additional action is deemed necessary.
I concur to the proposed one-time split sampling event as necessary and appropriate. Add MW-9C
since this is the guard well for municipal CSA-31 Well 2 and methanol was detected at 50
micrograms per Liter. Please note that CAO R5-2007-0709 and associated Monitoring and
Reporting Program R5-2007-0808 require that any sampling over and above that which is required
by the Order must be reported to the Regional Board.
If you have any questions or comments, you may call me at (916) 464-4615 or email me at
i barto n(a'_wate rboards.ca.aov.
 neerAMES L.L.
