All results from CSA-31 well 2 for fuel oxygenates were non-detect at acceptable
method detection limits.
I also received split samples from Apex (New West's consultant) for downgradient New West
monitoring wells MW-4A and MW-413 . Shallow well MW-4A groundwater analysis was non-
detect. Deeper well MW-4B groundwater analysis reported MtBE at 400 ug/L This confirms
the 360 ug/L previously reported for that well.
In summary, Mike, I acknowledge and appreciate your email of 6 September 2005 that
cautioned New west to " . . .not hesitate. . . ^ and continue the vertical and lateral
definition of the MtBE plume. I strongly concur to your recommendation that New West
expedite the installation of additional monitoring wells between MW-4A/MW-4B and CSA-31
Well 2 .
CSA-31 Well 2 is approximately 600 feet downgradient from MW-4B. The New West MtBE plume
is undefined in the downgradient direction and appears to be diving towards CSA-31 Well 2 .
I suggest that New West begin monitoring CSA-31 Well 2.
I will fax a copy of my analytical results to you. Apex said that their analytical
results should be available next week.
Thanks.
Jim Barton
James L.L.
