h KLEINFELDER
Miscellaneous Areas
A total of twelve shallow soil samples will be collected in the northern pond area at depths
ranging from approximately 0 to 12-inches bgs. The twelve discrete samples will be composited
into three 4-point composite samples and analyzed for the f Dllowing:
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as reference i to Diesel and Motor Oil [TPH-
D/MO] by EPA Method 8015M/3015;
• Organochlorine Pesticides by EPA Method 8081.
The shallow soil samples will be analyzed on a standard 101 to 15 day turnaround time.
This shallow soil sampling task is for a limited evaluation of pesticides in soil at the subject site
and does not reflect regulatory requirements. If regulatory agencies are going to be consulted, a
more detailed sampling and analysis protocol should be conducted at this time.
Task 2—Deep Soil Borings and Monitoring Wells
Kleinfelder proposes installation of four monitoring wells)and three deep soil borings to assess
soil and groundwater conditions in proximity to the fo er onsite UST locations and from
potential offsite sources of concern.
2.1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES
The San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) requires completion of a well permit and payment of fees prior to advancing soil
borings. Kleinfelder will prepare drilling permitapplicatyons for submittal to PHS/EHD along
with the required fees. The permits must be approved prillior to drilling and sampling activities.
PHS/EHD usually requires up to approximately two weeks to issue the pen-nits.
The drilling subcontractor will contact Underground Service Alert 48 hours prior to conducting
fieldwork to notify local utilities of our proposed subsurfacle work. Kleinfelder will additionally
prepare a health and safety plan prior to proceeding with fiI'Id activities.
2.2 DEEP SOIL BORINGS AND MONITORING ELLS
2.2.1 Deep Soil Boriugs:
A total of three deep soil borings will be advanced in the former UST areas located in the
southern portion of the site. Two of the borings will be advanced to an approximate depth of 30
feet bgs. A third boring will be advanced to approximately 50 feet bgs, just above first estimated
groundwater. The two 30 foot borings will be advanced in the northern UST area and western
portion of southern UST area. The deeper 50 foot soil boring will be advanced in the eastern part
02001PROP.ENV/ST03P327 Page 4 of 11
0 2003 Kleinfelder,Inc. September 3,2003
