ry KLEINFELUER
of the southern UST area near former sample location SB-2 area (near former monitoring well
MW-5).
During the advancement of the borings, soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals for
lithologic classification and qualitative field screening, with an organic vapor analyzer (OVA).
The OVA measures ionizable compounds in air in p 'rts per million by volume (ppmv).
Lithologic classification will be based on the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS).
At this time we propose to submit two soil samples fro Ti the 30 foot borings and three soil
samples from the 50 foot soil boring for quantitative chemical analyses. Kleinfelder proposes
collection of these soil samples from the 30-foot borings at depths of approximately 15 and 30
feet bgs, and at depths of approximately 30, 40 and 50 feet bgs from the 50 foot boring.
However, submittal of samples for chemical analyses will Iso be based on field observations and
on OVA readings. Seven soil samples from these the borings will be analyzed for the
following:
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Diesel and Motor oil
[TPH-D/MO] by EPA Method 8015M/3015;
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to gasoline [TPH-G] and
Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Total Xylenes [BTEX] by EPA Method
8015M/8260;
• Five Oxygenates (ETBE, DIPE, MTBE, TAME and TBA), by EPA 8260.
2.3 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
Kleinfelder proposes advancing a total of four well borings at the subject site, one near the
former UST area and three along perimeter locations to assess potential offsite sources of
concern and to assess the groundwater flow direction and gradient beneath the subject site. The
three perimeter borings will be located near the nortem, eastern and southern property
boundaries. Actual well locations of the borings may be dependent upon utilities and overhead
obstructions.
The borings will be advanced to an approximate depth of 0 feet below ground surface (bgs). A
monitoring well will be constructed in the boring. An approximate fifteen to twenty foot
screened interval will be used during construction of the wells, with approximately 5 to 10 feet of
screen installed above and approximately 10 feet below first encountered groundwater.
During the advancement of the borings, soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals for
lithologic classification and qualitative field screening, wi h an OVA. Lithologic classification
will be based on the US CS.
At this time we propose to submit one soil sample for qu titative chemical analyses from each
well boring. The soil samples submitted for analysis from the boring will be based on OVA
readings and field observations from soil samples collected at approximate 5-foot intervals.
02001PROP.ENV/ST03P327 Page 5 of I i
©2003 Kleinfelder,Inc.
