KLEINFELDER
After collection, the soil samples will be labeled, log ed on a chain-of-custody form, and
immediately stored in an iced cooler. A total of four soi samples will be submitted to a State
certified laboratory and analyzed for the following analyses:
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Diesel and Motor Oil
[TPH-D/MO] by EPA Method 8015M/3015;
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to gasoline [TPH-G] and
Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Total Xylene [BTEX] by EPA Method
8015M/8260;
• Five Oxygenates (ETBE, DIPE, MTBE, TAME anTBA), by EPA 8260.
The samples will be analyzed on a normal laboratory sched le requiring approximately two weeks
(ten working days) for completion unless the optional rush alytical turnaround is requested by the
client at an additional charge.
Upon completion of the drilling, a 2-inch diameter PVC monitoring well will be installed in the
boring. The monitoring well will be constructed as generally described in Attachment B-3.1.
2.4 MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT, Stofe
EYING AND SAMPLING
Approximately forty-eight hours after installation, each three new monitoring wells will be
developed to remove sediment from the bottom of the well, remove sediment-laden water, and to
increase the hydraulic radius of the well. Development will be performed using a pneumatic pump,
suction pump or bailer and as generally described in Attachment B-3.2.
A licensed surveyor will survey the top of each well casing for both horizontal and vertical
measurements. Vertical measurements will be surveyed to the nearest 100th of a foot. The survey
will attempt to incorporate local benchmarks relative to mean sea level (msl). If the nearest
benchmark is too far away to practically incorporate into the survey, the wells will be surveyed
relative to each other based on an arbitrary elevation of 100 feet. Measuring point elevations.for
each well and a base map will be generated from the survey. The surveyed data and depth to
groundwater data will be used to help generate groundwater ow and gradient maps.
Water level measurements will be made in each of the proposed monitoring wells greater than 48
hours after development during the subsequent groundwater sampling event. The water levels will
be recorded prior to purging and sampling of the well.
The monitoring well will be purged and sampled using a disposable bailer and as generally
described in Attachment B-4. Three groundwater samples collected from each of the three
perimeter wells will be submitted for the following analyses:
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Gasoline [TPH-G] by
EPA Method 8015M;
02001PROP.ENV/ST03P327 Page 6 of 11
©2003 Kleinfelder,Inc.
