Disposal will be the responsibility of the client. If requested Kleinfelder can assist
with disposal at an additional cost.
Task 3 — Stockpile soil Sampling
Kleinfelder is proposing to collect four discrete soil samples from the estimated 75 yards of soil
reportedly excavated from a former UST excavation located at the site. The four soil samples
will be collected at locations representing approximately equal volumes within the stockpile. The
samples will be submitted to a state-certified laboratory.
Soil sampling depths will range from approximately one to five feet bgs or sides of the soil
stockpile. The shallow borings will be advanced using a pre-cleaned stainless steel auger. The
samples will be collected by slide-hammering a stainless steel sampler containing a 2-inch
diameter by 6-inch long stainless steel sleeve into the stockpile. The stainless steel tube will then
be removed from the sampling device and will be sealed with Teflon° sheeting and tight-fitting
plastic end caps. Sampling equipment will be decontaminated between sample locations with a
LiquinoxO (laboratory-grade detergent) and water wash and a distilled water rinse.
After collection, the samples will be labeled, logged on a c am-of-custody form and immediately
stored in an iced cooler. The samples will be transport d under chain-of-custody control to
Kleinfelder's office and then transported by courier in sealed container to a state certified
02001PROP.ENV/ST03P327 Page 7 of 11
©2003 Kleinfelder,Inc.
