7 <br /> Sample Collection Process <br /> Organic vapors were measured in the field using an HNU photoionization detector <br /> (PID) The PID was used to screen soil samples and vapors to the breathing zone <br /> The soil was screened at the sampling locations in the tank excavation areas and the <br /> product pipeline area shown in figure 3 Soil screening and soil excavation and <br /> sampling are described to Appendix C, Standard Operating Procedures <br /> Analytical Results <br /> Soil samples were collected in.precleaned,2-inch diameter,6-inch long,brass sample <br /> tubes from beneath the tanks, below the hydraulic hoists and every 15 feet along the <br /> product pipeline according to Standard Operating Procedures described in Appendix <br /> C The soils samples were transported in a refrigerated environment under chain-of- <br /> custody to Pace,Incorporated of Novato,California,a state-certified laboratory <br /> Laboratory analytical insults are summarized in Table 1 laboratory data sheets and <br /> the chain-cf-custody sheets are included to Appendix B Samples collected from <br /> beneath the 8,000 and 10,000 gallon tanks indicate total petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> (EPA Method 8015)as gasolene CMH-g)at levels ranging from 5 parts per million <br /> (ppm), to 260 ppm Benzene, toluene,ethylbenzene and xylene(BTEX) (EPA <br /> Alethod 8020)were detected at levels as high as 12, 12,6 8 and 39 ppm, <br /> respectively Soils near the hoists did not contain detectable levels of total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons (by EPA Method 418 1) <br /> Lead (EPA Method 6010/200 7 ICP)was detected at levels from nondetect to 34 <br /> ppm The highest total lead level was detected in a sample from below the 6,000 <br /> +�.. gallon tank Organic lead analysis(California Dept.of Health Services Method 338) <br /> was run on all samples which contained detectable total lead Organic lead was not <br /> detected in any samples TPH-diesel(EPA Method 8015), PCBs and pesticides (EPA <br /> Method 8080) and purgeable hydrocarbons(EPA Method 801018020) were not <br /> detected in soil samples collected from the 1,000 gallon waste oil tank Cadrruwn, <br /> Chromium, Nickel,Lead,and Zinc(EPA Method 6010/200 7, ICP) were detected to <br /> the waste oil tank soil samples at levels below the Total Threshold Lerrut 67 LG? <br /> Concentration(17CL) in the California Code of Regulations Title 22 <br /> �F <br />
