Soil boring permits were obtained from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division, prior to initiation of drilling at the site: <br /> 4.3 Contracting and Permittin <br /> A licensed C-57 driller was contracted to drill the eight soil borings and collect impact soil samples. An <br /> orientation meeting took place at the site prior to initiating work to farililiarize the drilling contractor <br /> with the facility. Elements of the work plan, health, and safety issues were discussed. Western`s plant <br /> manager and staff were asked to assist in identifying buried structures., <br /> 4.4 Geologic Data Compilation �{ <br /> ' Geologic data has been compiled for the facility from government,'files and geologic literature references <br /> y from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of <br /> Water Resources (DWR), RWQCB, and the California Division of Mines and Geology (CDMG) <br /> relevant to the subject site. Stratigraphic and hydrogeologic infoLatior derived from the proposed soil <br /> 11 <br /> borings in this investigation has been compiled with previously obtained data, in order to further refine <br /> f ' <br /> the conceptual site model. <br /> { 4.5Hollow-Stem 9,ugrer Drilling and Soil Sample Coilection <br /> Excavation of soil borings and soil sampling were performed with a truck-mounted hollow stem auger <br /> drill rig. Steel-tube (impact) soil samples were collected at 5, 10,120, 30, and 50 feet bgs in each boring. <br /> In all cases, the soil boring locations were the same as those in the approved work plan for this <br /> investigation(Figure 3).
