Ruth Strong Property
5157 Business Loop 205
Page 2
Boring logs of MW-1 and B-4 indicate a layer of fine sand to silty fine sand at
approximately 20 feet bsg between clay layers. Boring logs of B-4, B-5, and B-6
indicate a sand layer at 10 feet bsg between clay layers. Groundwater is at
approximately 10 feet bsg with gradient direction to the north/northeast. The
horizontal extent of the contamination north, east and south of the former USTs,
and north, west and south of the dispenser island has not been defined. The
combination of shallow groundwater and presence of sand layers in the known
contaminant plume may provide for horizontal migration of the contamination,
and provides the potential for the contamination to come in contact with vertical
migratory pathways. Given the recent substantial elevations of gasoline and
Benzene concentrations in MW-2, additional work to define the horizontal limit of
the plume is required. Submit a work plan that will define the horizontal extent of
the contamination to PHSIEHD by July 1, 1999.
No quarterly monitoring event has occurred since October 16, 1998. Quarterly
monitoring must be conducted and a report submitted to PHSIEHD until no
further action is required. The California Code of Regulations Title 23, Division
3, Chapter 16, Section 2652(d), states: Until investigation and cleanup are
complete, the owner or operator shall submit reports to the local agency or
Regional Water Quality Board, whichever agency is overseeing the cleanup,
every three months or more frequently as specified by the agency. Conduct the
next quarterly monitoring event by May 20, 1999, and submit a report of the
quarterly monitoring event by June 20, 1999.
If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Wong at (209) 468-0335.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Jeffrey Wong , REHS Margaret Lagorio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc. —Tim Cuellar
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region -- Mark List
