CLEARWATER
.16G R O U P, 1 N C._'
y hours. Monitoking -wells MW-1 through MW-3, the .downgradient
' monitoring-well (PMW-8), 'and the remaining. vapor. extraction wells will be
- s monitoring points:during the tests.
2.5' Groundwater Extraction Tests J
Following the .vapor extraction pilot test, Clearwater will conduct
' groundwater pumping tests. The tests .will be conducted ,to evaluate the
physical characteristics of the. water-bearing strata- at .the site (hydraulic .'
conductivity, transmissivity, and other parameters).
' The procedures discussed in Appendix '
. . . . • pp C and-below will be followed: _
' • ' Pumping equipment will consist of an electric submersibleum able
of low to moderate flow rates P P ca p
Recovered water will be'contained in an above:ground holding tank VIP.
• Discharge water 'will be tested for TPHg, .TPHd and: '
_ nd BTEX following'. -
completion of the groundwater extraction-.tests
• Water- will be disposed of following acceptance at an appropriate disposal
facility
Ste -Drawd wn Test
The first type of pumping test is a step-drawdown test, which is conducted by.
extracting groundwater from the well at varying rates: The objective of the
test.is to select the most.appropriate.extraction`rate for a,longer-term pumping'
test. In general, the well is pumped at a particular rate until the water level in
the extraction well stabilizes, at which time the test will be conducted at the
' next step (extraction rate). 'Ideally, the optimal pumping rate, should result.in
r a sustainable.rate yield with approximately 10-15 feet of drawdown in the
pumping:well.
The following are anticipated operating parameters for the step-drawdown
test,,although field observations may necessitate modifications:
• The test will take approximately 4 hours
• : The first pump rate will be approximate) 0.5. allons per minute Y. g P (gpm):
• Pump rates ("steps"),will be increased in increments of .0.5 gpm ;
•` The test will be conducted at approximately 4 or 5 pumping rates.'
ID-105WP 7/95
I` 9
