Flag City Chevron
6421 Capitol Avenue,Lodi - 2 - 8 August 2001
efforts to provide a permanent water source for Rockies Restaurant so RDW-1 can be destroyed by the end of
this year. C&A Order No. 5-00-700 requires you to document your efforts to provide a permanent water source
for Rocky's Restaurant in a quarterly report.
In the 31 August 2000 Final Remediation Plan(FRP) submitted by AGE,AGE recommended remediating
on-site contamination in the shallow aquifer, and then reevaluating remedial efforts for the deeper aquifers. We
approved this approach in our 5 October 2000 letter, and stated that we would require an update to the FRP to
address the deeper zone contamination at a later date. Since the groundwater remediation system has shown
favorable results in the first eight months of operation,it is now time to address the off-site and deeper
groundwater contamination related to the Flag City Chevron site. Remediation of off-site and deeper
groundwater is necessary to protect the Three B's domestic well and the two CSA municipal wells from
becoming impacted.
By 24 September 2001,please submit the following:
• An update to the FRP to address off-site and deeper groundwater contamination related to the Flag City
Chevron site.
• Submit a plan of work to properly destroy RDW-1.
Please notify Mr.Mike Infurna at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division(209)468-3454 and
me at least two business days prior to any site work or sampling. If you have any questions or comments, please
call me at(916)255-3115.
Marty Hartzell
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc: Ms. Mark Owens,UST Cleanup Fund, SWRCB, Sacramento
Mr. Mike Infurna, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division, Stockton
Mr.Timothy J.
