This work plan has been prepared in response to your letter,
dated June 3, 2003, requesting the submittal of a work plan for additional site investigation and
is installation of monitoring wells. A copy of this letter is included in Attachment 1. This work plan
includes a brief discussion of the site, proposed scope of work, and a schedule.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is located at 139 South Center Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1). Former station
facilities included two pump islands under a common canopy, three double-walled steel underground
storage tanks (USTs), one double-walled steel used-oil UST, and a station building. Locations of
former station facilities are shown on Figure 2. The area surrounding the site consists of primarily
commercial land uses. Topography in the area of the site is relatively flat, and is approximately 12
feet above mean sea level (msl). The nearest surface water bodies are the Mormon Slough located
approximately 1/4-mile south of the site, the Yacht Harbor located approximately 1/4-mile north of
the site, and the Port of Stockton located approximately one mile west of the site.
PROPOSED,SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work proposed for this assessment includes the advancement of five soil borings using
hollow-stem augers, and the completion of each boring as a groundwater monitoring well. The
locations of proposed groundwater monitoring wells are shown on Figure 2. Based on recent data,
groundwater is expected at approximately 24 feet:below ground surface (bgs).
A summary of field and laboratory procedures that will be followed during this work is presented in
Attachment 2. The specific scope of work is described below.
SITE HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN
As required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Standard "Hazardous
Waste Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (29 Code of Federal Regulations Section
1910.120), and by California Occupational Health and Safety Administration (Cal-OSHA) "Hazardous
I:\Chevron\90557\REPORTS\WP for Monitoring Well Installation-2003.REVBr.doc SECOR International Incorporated
