S E C O R
Ms. Victoria McCartney
June 24, 2003
Page 2
Waste Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (California Code of Regulations Title 8,
Section 5192), SECOR will prepare, or modify the existing, site-specific health and safety plan
(SHSP) prior to the commencement of fieldwork. Field staff and contractors will review the SHSP
before beginning field operations at the site.
PERMITTING
The applicable permits will be obtained from the City of Stockton and the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD), as necessary, prior to drilling.
MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
The boreholes for four shallow groundwater wells (MW-14, MW-15, MW-16, and MW-17) and one
deep (MW-15D) groundwater monitoring well will be advanced as described in the following
subsections. The locations of proposed groundwater monitoring wells are shown on Figure 2.
Shallow and Deep Groundwater Monitoring Wells
The shallow boreholes for monitoring wells MW-14, MW-16, and MW-17 will be advanced using 8-
inch hollow-stem augers to depths of approximately 34 feet bgs. Upon completion of drilling, 2-inch
diameter groundwater monitoring wells will be installed in each of the boreholes. The borehole for
the monitoring well MW-15 will be advanced using 11-inch hollow-stem augers to a depth of
approximately 34 feet bgs. Upon completion of drilling, 4-inch diameter groundwater monitoring well dor
will be installed in the borehole. The screen intervals for these wells will be determined based on
field conditions. AA.,
The deep borehole for monitoring well MW-15D will be advanced using a 11-inch hollow stem augers
to a depth of approximately 60 feet bgs. Upon completion of drilling, 4-inch diameter groundwater VN
monitoring well will be installed in the borehole. The screen interval for this well will be determined
based on field conditions.
Soil Sampling and Analysis
Soil samples for logging purposes well be collected at 5-foot Intervals from ground surface to the total
completion depth. Vapor headspace monitoring will be conducted on soil samples collected in 5-foot
intervals from ground surface to total completion depth. Selected soil samples will be submitted to a
California state certified laboratory, and analyzed for the presence of total petroleum hydrocarbons
as gasoline (TPHg), total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd), total petroleum hydrocarbons as
motor oil (TPHmo), benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, total xylenes (BTEX), methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MtBE), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA); di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (EtBE),
tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME), 1,2-dichlorothene (1,2-DCA), and ethylene dibromide (EDB).
V
lAChevron\90557\REP0RTS\WP for Monitoring Well Installation-2003.REVBr.doc SECOR International Incorporated
