Section 2A - WELLS, MONITORING TUBES, AND LYSIMETERS <br /> 2A-1. GENERAL. This section covers the detailed requirements of the <br /> work for installation of injection wells, monitoring tubes, lysimeters, <br /> and one extraction well for the soil flushing systems. <br /> The Work to be performed under this Agreement involves the installation <br /> of eleven injection wells, twelve monitoring tubes, two lysimeter <br /> clusters (with two lysimeters per cluster) , and one extraction well . <br /> The Work shall be performed in two phases, designated as Phase I and <br /> Phase III. Phase I will include the installation of two injection wells <br /> and six monitoring tubes. Phase III will include the installation of <br /> nine injection wells, six monitoring tubes, two lysimeter clusters, and <br /> one extraction well . During Phase II , a pilot test will be performed by <br /> the Engineer and Owner' s agent to verify the full-scale design. The <br /> number and construction details of wells, monitoring tubes, and <br /> lysimeters to be installed during Phase III will be modified as <br /> appropriate based on the results of the pilot test. The Work to be <br /> performed by the Contractor based on the current program is itemized in <br /> Tables 2A-1 through 2A-4. The locations of the Phase I and Phase III <br /> wells, monitoring tubes, and lysimeters are shown on Drawings G-1 and <br /> G-2. <br /> Figure 1-2A shows a geologic section through several monitoring wells at <br /> the site. Detailed boring logs are available from the Engineer upon <br /> Contractor's request. <br /> Penetration of asphalt or concrete paving shall be required at each <br /> well , monitoring tube, and lysimeter location. <br /> The Work under this Agreement shall include the following: <br /> Providing all field supplies. <br /> Drilling borings for all wells, monitoring tubes, and lysimeters <br /> using one or more drill rigs that are capable of performing the <br /> dual-wall reverse circulation drilling method using air as the <br /> drilling fluid and the hollow-stem auger method, in accordance <br /> with the location, type, depth specified herein, or as required by <br /> the Engineer. <br /> Backfilling with grout, borings which are not completed as wells, <br /> monitoring tubes, and lysimeters, as specified herein or as <br /> required by the Engineer. <br /> Furnishing and installing casing and screen for monitoring tubes, <br /> injection wells, lysimeters and the extraction well in accordance <br /> with the type and depth specified herein, or as required by the <br /> Engineer. <br /> (MARLEY SSFS ) 2A-1 <br /> (CONTRACT NO. 13) <br /> (11654.652 ) <br />
