KLEINFELDER
r
August 12, 1991 `'ECEIVED
24-200901
AUG 15 1991.
Mr. Craig Willis + SLACK & VEA I CH
B&V Waste Science
and Technology Corp.
P.O. Box 30240
Kansas City, Missouri 641 i2
SUBJECT: SOIL SAMPLING RESULTS
THE INIARLEY COOLING TOWER COivfPANY
CARROLL AVENUE, STOCKTON CALIFOIUNIA
Dear Mr. Willis:
Enclosed are the analytical results for the two soil samples collected on Carroll Avenue, south
of the Marley Cooling Tower Company, Stockton facility. The two samples had the following
arsenic and chromium concentrations detected:
SAMPLE NUMBER ARSENIC (mg/Kg) CHROMIUM (mg/Kg)
61141 5.2 45.6
61142 5.3 49.4
SAMPLING ACTIVITIES
On August 7, 1991, a Kleinfelder geologist collected two surface soil samples from the east
side of Carroll Avenue. The sample locations were specified by Mr. Jiro Austreng of the
California Department of Toxic Substances Control. Mr. Austreng was on site during the
sampling.
The samples were collected from 0 to 2 inches below the surface from soil between the street
and residential fences (approximately 1 to 2 feet east of the asphalt of Carroll Avenue). The
samples were collected in the general vicinity of a backfilled trench running the length of
Carroll Avenue (Plate 1).
Sample 61141 was collected near a group of mail boxes in front of the residence at 110 Carroll
Avenue (approximately 417 feet from the fence of Marley's South Yard). It is Kleinfelder's
understanding that the mail boxes had recently been moved to this location during the
trenching activities.
Sample 61142 was a composited from three surface locations along Carroll Avenue. The first
composite location was in front of the north property line of the residence at 16 Carroll
Avenue (approximately 236 feet from Marley's South Yard fence). The second composite
location was in front of the property line between the residences at 16 and 32 Carroll Avenue
F21-91-11 copyright 1991 Kleinfelder, Inc.
KLc.\F;::)ER =.rc!e. =acnmento, CA 93827 19 161 360-1701
