Appendix C:Initial Study Checklist Former Marley Cooling Tower Company,Stockton,CA
References Used:
3
i 15.Ttahhrtation and Traffic ' "`
Description of Baseline Environmental Conditions: There are high traffic times coinciding with the beginning and end of
each school day. Traffic is typical of that within residential subdivisions where a high school is located.
Analysis as to whether or not project activities would:
a. Cause an increase in traffic which is substantial in relation to the existing traffic load and capacity of the street system
(i.e., result in a substantial increase in either the number of vehicle trips, the volume to capacity ratio on roads, or
congestion at intersections).
Impact Analysis: Drill rigs and chemical trucks will create some additional traffic in the project area. The effects of this
will be limited by staring the trucks at the site as opposed to leaving all of the equipment at the work area each night.
Once equipment is mobilized to an injection location and set up, most of the equipment will be stationary at the work
site until injection at the location is completed, or the work day is over. The proposed injection work located on
residential streets (Carrol, Coolidge, and Sinclair Avenues) may increase congestion on those streets due to
equipment. However, Carrol Ave. and Coolidge Ave. terminate into the site, and the traffic is generally light on these
streets,
MWH is evaluating the possibility of directly piping injection solution from the northern site to the injection locations on
the athletic field as apposed to transporting material on the roadways to the athletic field.
Conclusion:
❑ Potentially Significant Impact
❑ Potentially Significant Unless Mitigated
® Less Than Significant Impact
❑ No Impact
b. Exceed, either individually or cumulatively, a level of service standard established by the country congestion
management agency for designated roads or highway.
Impact Analysis: There will be no long term impact by the proposed injection activities. Work areas within roadways
will provide passable access for vehicles when applicable.
Conclusion:
❑ Potentially Significant Impact
❑ Potentially Significant Unless Mitigated
® Less Than Significant Impact
❑ No Impact
c. Substantially increase hazards due to a design feature (e.g., sharp curves or dangerous intersections)or incompatible
uses (e.g., farm equipment).
Impact Analysis: There is no anticipated impact as a result of issues stated above.
Conclusion:
❑ Potentially Significant Impact
❑ Potentially Significant Unless Mitigated
® Less Than Significant Impact
❑ No Impact
d. Result in inadequate emergency access.
Impact Analysis: No Impact is anticipated from proposed activities because road access shall be maintained in the
vicinity of the work areas.
Conclusion:
❑Potentially Significant Impact
