JOYCE GRUBBS
PAGE 2
investigation and cleanup of these releases. PHS-EHD does not expect this
situation to change.
A Corrective Action Plan to mitigate the effects of the releases has been
approved and implemented at the site with favorable results. Due to the active
remediation initiated at the Shell Oil site in 1993, the groundwater plume has
been reduced in areal extent and further migration of the plume is under control.
Once active remediation at the Shell Oil site is complete, it is likely that a
groundwater plume will remain at the site, with some minor impact to the
groundwater underlying the property of concern possible. However, this plume
will be stable and is expected to be further reduced by natural processes over
time. This is an acceptable plan of action which should abate the problem
sufficiently to satisfy regulatory requirements.
PHS-EHD is committed to promoting economic development in our community
whenever possible, and hopes this letter will help to that end.
