1
a _ V
CAMBRIA
None of the soil samples contained detectable levels of benzene, toluene, or fuel oxygenates.
Nine of the 14 soil samples did not contain detectable levels of TPHg, BTEX, and fuel '
oxygenates. Three of the soil samples contained only xylenes at concentrations ranging from
0.0159 to 0.0296 parts per million (ppm). The remaining two soil samples contained TPHg at
concentrations of 4.59 and 54.7 ppm.
Site Investigation 2001: Four soil borings (SB-1 t irough SB-4) were drilled at the site during
July 2001 to assess the vertical and lateral exten of gasoline constituents in the soil and to
determine if groundwater beneath the site was impacted. Soil analytical results from this
investigation suggested the lateral extent of impacted soil is delineated and confined to the
vicinity of boring SB-1. The groundwater sample collected from boring SB-1 contained ,780
parts per billion (ppb) TPHg and did not contain benzene or MTBE. The results of this
investigation are documented in Cambria's November 7,2001 Site Investigation Report.
Site Investigation 2002: During December 2002, five groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1
through MW-5) were installed at the site to monitor shallow groundwater. Soil samples
collected from the well borings during this inves igation did not contain detectable levels of
gasoline constituents. Groundwater samples collec ed from the wells did not contain detectable
levels of TPHg or BTEX with the exception of low levels found in MW-l. MTBE was detected
at 5.0 ppb in MW-2. 1,2-DCA was detected ir groundwater samples from three wells at
concentrations ranging from 3.4 to 310 ppb. The sults of this investigation are documented in
Cambria's May 2, 2003 Site Investigation/Quarterl Monitoring Report-First Quarter 2003.
Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling: The five existing groundwater monitoring wells have
been monitored and sampled quarterly since they w re installed. The groundwater flow direction
beneath this site is generally toward the east, with fl actuation to the northeast and southeast. The
groundwater gradient has ranged from 0.001 to 0.006. Depth to groundwater beneath the site
ranges from approximately 41 to 44 feet below grad (fbg).
WORK PLAN
Technical Rationale for Proposed Scope of Work
• 1,2-DCA has been detected in groundwater samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-2, and
MW-5 at concentrations ranging from 2.3 to 310 ppb.
1511 2
