During construction activities, on site workers shall act as the safety backup to each <br /> other; off site personnel shall provide emergency assistance. <br /> 4. Entrance and exit locations shall be designated, and emergency escape routes shall be <br /> delineated by the Site Supervisor. A warning signal for evacuation shall be established <br /> by the Site Supervisor. <br /> 5. Traffic cones or caution tape shall cordon off sufficient space around the work area to <br /> prevent unprotected and unauthorized personnel from entering the work area. <br /> 6. Sanitary water shall be available on-site for drinking and cleaning purposes. <br /> 7. There shall be at least one 10A80BC dry-chemical fire extinguisher on-site. <br /> 8. All excavations shall be in accordance with OSHA and all applicable regulations. These <br /> regulations include that workers shall not enter any excavation deeper than four feet <br /> unless acceptable sloping, shoring, or other means of protection is provided. Open <br /> excavations deeper than four feet are also considered confined spaces, and appropriate <br /> procedures must be followed. <br /> Personal Protective Equipment: <br /> 10. Based on the evaluation of potential hazards, the level of protection deemed appropriate <br /> for this site is general Level D. <br /> - Hard Hat <br /> - Safety Glasses <br /> - Steel Toed Boots <br /> - Gloves <br /> - Long Sleeve Work Shirt <br /> The level of protection may be upgraded if monitoring results (more than 300 PPM by <br /> PID) or other indications of increased levels of contamination become evident. Site <br /> workers shall have appropriate respirators at the work site. <br /> Any items that come into contact with contaminants shall either be properly disposed of <br /> or thoroughly washed before reuse. <br /> Monitoring: <br /> 11. Ambient air monitoring will be provided on a continuous basis with a PID in the <br /> breathing zone of the workers. The results shall be documented in the field notes on a <br />
