GES <br /> GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT <br /> • Post-excavation confirmation sampling of the bottom and perimeter of excavations <br /> to demonstrate that soil exceeding regulatory criteria have been excavated <br /> • Collection and analysis of stockpiled soil for waste classification <br /> • Identifying a licensed disposal facility in accordance with applicable regulations, <br /> and transporting the stockpiled soil to the chosen disposal facility; and <br /> • Performing Site Restoration. <br /> In addition to the thirteen AOC, implementation of the Removal Action will include: <br /> • Sampling and removing ash from the silo and covering the foundation adjacent to <br /> Boring B-29; <br /> • Abandonment of the on-Site water supply well; <br /> • Removal and proper disposal of drums,chemical containers, cabinets, debris, <br /> buildings, and foundations remaining on-Site. <br /> A detailed discussion of field and laboratory techniques is in the Sampling and Analysis Plan <br /> ("SAP") (Appendix B). Protocols for ensuring the quality of field and laboratory data are <br /> detailed in the Quality Assurance Project Plan(Appendix C). Field activities will also be <br /> conducted in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan(Appendix D). <br /> 5.1 Site Security <br /> Currently,the Site is secured by a perimeter fence with a locked gate. However,there are <br /> gaps in the fence and evidence that people are accessing and using the Site. Prior to <br /> beginning removal and remediation activities will be enhanced by: <br /> • Repairing gaps in the perimeter fence; <br /> • Posting appropriate signage; <br /> • Replacing the gate lock; and <br /> • Hiring security (if deemed necessary). <br /> 5.2 Removal of Drums,Debris,and Buildings <br /> Prior to excavation, all remaining cabinets, debris, buildings and foundations will be <br /> removed from the Site. If drums or other containers have solids or liquids in them,these <br /> materials will be sampled and analyzed as appropriate. Other miscellaneous debris and <br /> building materials will be removed for proper off-Site disposal. <br /> During these removal activities,the soil beneath these materials will be observed and <br /> screened as appropriate.
