CSE{ .-
GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
excavation and confirmation sampling will be conducted until COPC concentrations in soil
are below the RAO.
5.5 Ash Removal
Ash has been identified in two locations: (i) on the foundation of the former silo, and(ii)on
the building foundation adjacent to Boring B-29. The ash from the silo is a part of AOC 13
and has been sampled, and its removal is covered in Section 5.1. The ash adjacent to B-29
has not been sampled.
Prior to removal, the ash on the foundation adjacent to B-29 will be sampled for Title 22
metals and dioxins. After sample results have been received, the ash will be removed from
the building foundation and proper disposal arranged based on waste characterization as
discussed in the next section.
5.6 Waste Characterization
Composite samples of stockpiled soil will be collected to characterize the waste for disposal.
A total of 2 composite samples will be collected from the stockpiled soil. From each half of
the stockpile, five discrete sub-samples will be collected and homogenized prior to
transferring the soil to sample containers. Waste characterization analyses include:
• CAM 17 Metals by EPA Method 6010B
• VOC by EPA Method 8260B
• SVOC by EPA Method 8270
• TPH-d and TPH-o by EPA Method 8015M
• Dioxin by EPA Method 8290
The Nur Al-Huda Academy will be listed as the generator on the waste manifests.
5.7 Off-Site Disposal
After waste characterization is complete, an appropriately permitted waste disposal facility
will be identified. Other considerations in selecting a disposal facility include distance from
the Site and per ton disposal costs.
5.8 Transportation Plan
An off-Site transportation plan will be finalized in accordance with local, state, and federal
regulations once a disposal facility has been identified.
