GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
control measures are to be employed during the remediation. Truck drivers will have Class
A licenses.
Soil stockpiles will be located on the eastern part of the Site, adjacent to the entrance gate on
South Union Road. Based on the volume of soil to be removed(700 yd3, approximately I
ton per yd3), and dump truck capacity of about 30 tons, it will take approximately 25
truckloads to remove all impacted soil. During loading, trucks will be parked on-Site to
avoid inhibiting traffic on South Union Road. After loading and before leaving the Site,
trucks will be decontaminated by removing visible soil according to a Dust Mitigation Plan
(Appendix F). Manifest records will be maintained for transportation and disposal of the
waste.
5.9 Site Restoration
Because the volume of soil to be excavated from each AOC (i.e. less than 250 yd3)and
shallow excavations (less than 1.5 feet deep),minimal Site restoration will be performed as a
part of the RAW. No clean fill will not be brought in to backfill each AOC. Vertical walls
of an excavation greater that are 6 inches high will be regarded to a 1:1 slope. The Site will
be redeveloped after a No Further Action determination has been received from DTSC. Soil
re-grading activities during Site redevelopment will fill/cut excavations as necessary to bring
them to the proposed Site grade.
5.10 Domestic Well Abandonment
The on-Site domestic well will be abandoned in accordance with San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department regulations. There is little information available about the
construction of the domestic well. Prior to destruction, the well materials will be inspected
from the surface, and the total depth of the well will be determined. Abandonment will
consist of perforation of the entire length of screen and casing, followed by pressure grouting
with a cement/bentonite grout. The upper 2.5 feet of casing will be removed and grout used
to backfill the hole to 6 inches above the casing, and the remainder of the hole backfilled
with native material.
5.11 Site Safety Plan
The Health and Safety Plan(Appendix D)provides details regarding safety measures that
will be followed during remedial activities.
Former Gordon Research Company Property 17 of 20
Removal Action Workplan
June 2017
