r it
rr
l
TroAdwdEAWW
ethylbenzene and/or xylenes. This qualifier identifies results that exceed the 40 percent RPD
project goal for the first and second columns. The impact of this qualifier on data reliability is
described in the RPD section.below.
BPDs for Laboratory Columns
The project RPD goal for the first and second columns is 40 percent or less. Of the hundreds of
samples analyzed for multiple analytes,.only thirteen samples had C qualifiers. Twelve of the
samples were confirmation samples in Area 15, and had a C-qualifier for ethylbenzene and/or
xylenes. One sample was a stockpile sample in Area 15 and had a'C-qualifier for ethylbenzene.
I
This indicates that the results for these analytes.are below the project RPD goal: Although the C
qualifier indicates that the precision for these analytes is below project goals, based on the
following points, the data and reliability for,the overall project and the closure of excavation
15B6 are not impacted.
• The number of analytes failing the RPD project goal is only a few percent of the total for
the project.
• Nine of the 12 clearance samples with qualified results were subsequently excavated due
to associated TPHd concentrations.
• Neither of the qualified analytes, ethylbenzene and xylenes, are COCs or have site
cleanup goals, and confirmation of cleanup at Area 15 excavations did not rely on
ethylbenzene or xylenes data.
• The qualified ethylbenzene concentration from the Area 15 stockpile sample was well
below the landfill acceptance criteria.
Laboratory Reporting Limits
With the exception of some PAH results, the laboratory reporting limits for the data were all
below the respective RAO for each COC. In cases where a laboratory reporting limit exceeded
an RAO, the elevated reporting limits are noted on the.Tables 3 and 4, this data was not relied
25971025.DGD 20 11 August 2005
