Subsurface Environmental Investigation September 21, 1988
Abandoned Lerner Service Station, Lodi, California AGS 38055-1
being used are unknown to Applied GeoSystems. The locations of
underground utilities known to Applied GeoSystems are shown on
0" Plate P-2.
FIELD WORK AND METHODS
Soil Borings
Applied GeoSystems observed drilling of.four soil borings and
installation of one monitoring well at the site to assess the
: presence of subsurface hydrocarbon contamination and obtain a
' - preliminary definition of the vertical and horizontal extent of
soil and ground-water contamination.
+ A geologist from Applied GeoSystems was present at the site on
August 18 and 19. 1988, to observe drilling and well
construction, collect soil samples, and evaluate drill cuttings
f.. subjectively for evidence of contamination. The soil borings
were drilled by Trace Environmental Services, Inc. , of Rancho
Cordova, Cal;'-fornia, with a Mobile B-61 drill rig equipped with
t_
i 8-inch-diameter, continuous-flight, hollow-stem augers. The
augers were steam-cleaned prior to use in each boring to minimize
the-possibility of-downhole-of-crosshole-contamination -
y„r
5
A)OR11440r!
