. 19 July 1995
AGE-NC-95-0109
4.0. FINDINGS
4 1 MICROBIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY IN SOIL AND GROUND WATER
Aerobic plate counts in soil samples collected during the 8 June 1995 sampling ranged from below
detection limits(ND)to P11-38'to 30,400 cfu/g in P12-37' Anaerobic plate counts ranged from ND
in P 10-38', PI 1-38' and P 13-54' to 3,400 cfu/g in PI 1-44 NLcrobial Activity ranged from ND in
P 13-28' to 58 pg/10g soillday in P 10-38 The laboratory reports and chain-of-custody forms are
included in Appendix C
In ground water samples collected on 18 May 1995, aerobic plate counts ranged from 69,000 cfu/g
in EW 1 to 2,660,000 cfu/g in MW-6 Consistently lower aerobic plate count numbers were reported
in samples collected on 12 June 1995, ranging from 13,500 cfu/g in MW-13 to 520,000 cfu/g in MW-
6
Pseudomonas numbers ranged from ND in MW-7 to 960 cfu/g in MW-11 in samples collected on 18
May 1995 Consistently higher concentrations of Pseudomonas (up to 540,000 cfu/g) were reported
• in samples from the June sampling(Table 1) The laboratory reports and chain-of-custody forms are
included in Appendix D
Samples from MW-8, MW-14 and EW-1 collected on 12 June 1995 were analyzed for fecal coliform
No Fecal Coliform was detected in any of the samples analyzed, however, total coliform was detected
"present" in each sample
4 2 NITRATE, NITRITE, PHOSPHATE AND pH CONCENTRATIONS IN SOIL
Seven soil samples were submitted for analysis of nitrate, nrtnte and phosphate concentrations and
pH Nitrate was detected at concentrations ranging from 45 mg/kg (parts per nullion ppm) to 240
ppm Phosphate was detected at concentrations ranging from 12 ppm to 2 3 ppm Soil pH ranged
from 6 7 to 8 8 No nitntes were detected in any of the soil samples analyzed The laboratory report
and cham-of custody form are included in Appendix C
43 SOIL VAPOR SANIPLING
Concentrations of organic vapor(OV)measured in the wells continue the trend observed during past
monitoring periods, in each well, the OV and to a lesser degree, carbon dioxide readings are
negatively correlated with oxygen concentrations The correlation between OV/carbon dioxide and
oxygen continues to be predictable The degree of correlation continues to fluctuate All soil vapor
