analyzed by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency( SEPA) Test Method 8260B and other
scans.
Specific scans requested by PHSEHD included TPH-g soline, BTEX, 7 oxygenates, and volatile
halocarbons. All analytical results were reported below laboratory detection limits. In addition,
PHSEHD requested a wet extraction test (WET) for led and a scan for Chrome III. Both lead
samples were reported to be below analytical laboratory detection limits and the Chrome III
analytical results were reported as 14 and 26 mg/kg fo samples HH-SB-1-11.0-11.5 and HH-SB-
1-16.0-16.5, respectively. These concentrations are n t considered as hazardous under the
California Code of Regulations. Analytical laboratory reports are attached to this report.
Additional Sampling
Additional soil sampling was conducted under the request of PHSEHD on March 23, 2001.
Exploratory soil boring HH-SB2 was located immediately over the former waste oil UST
location and within one foot of the former soil boring HH-SB-I (Exhibit 3). This soil boring was
advanced using a Mobile Drill B-53 drill rig with a continuous hollow stem flite auger. The
drilling contractor was Earthtec Ltd, Roseville,Califo ia. HH-SB-2 was started, sampled, and
completed on March 23, 2001. Drilling and soil sampling was conducted under the oversight of
this office by a State of California Certified Engineering Geologist.
The soil flite augers were steam cleaned prior to use in the hole. Soil samples were collected
every five feet by a modified California split-spoon sampler using 2 1/2 inch diameter brass
sleeves. All sampling equipment was decontaminated by Alquinox prior to sampling. The first
sample was collected at a depth of 9.0 to 10.5 feet below ground surface. Five foot samples were
collected after that with the bottom sample being obtained from a depth of 34.0 to 35.5 feet bgs.
A total of six soil samples were collected with total depth reached at 35.5 feet below ground
surface. All cuttings were drummed in a 55 gallon DOT drum and left onsite.
The lithologies penetrated were primarily brown to d k brown, medium to coarse grained sand,
dry, and micaceous. No indication of proximity to the groundwater table was found to be
present. No odor or hydrocarbon staining was found to be present in the cuttings. A log of HH-
SB-2 is presented with this report.
A total of six soil samples were collected from the sol boring. The soil boring was backfilled
with bentonite chips to within 10 feet of the surfacear d backfilled with native soil.
All six soil samples were submitted to KTFF Analytic;A, Davis, California under chain of
custody documentation. One samples, SB-1- 20.5 was analyzed by U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency(USEPA) Test Method 8260B and 8015(m). Additional analyses included
CAM-17 metals, lead by Test Method 6010, and Chro me VI by Test Method 7196.
4
