CHEROKEE LANE, LODI,
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY(REGIONAL BOARD CASE#390330)
1 reviewed the Workplan for Well Destruction (Workplan), received 21 May 2009 from your consultant
Stantec Consulting Corporation. The Workplan proposes destruction of 22 wells located at your Site,
and also includes a draft Fact Sheet and List of Interested Parties with addresses for Public
Participation.
The Workplan states that, after removing the first 3' of soil/surface completion over the well casing by
overdrilling, the well destructions will be.accomplished by either of the following:
Leaving 6" of well casing above the 3' below ground surface (bgs) initial boring, pressure
grouting wells (MW-4, MW-7, MW-9, VP-3, VW-1 through VW-5, and VW-7 through VW-11) up
the well to top of casing, then finishing with a concrete mushroom cap and native/paving
material to grade, or
• By overdrilling to total well depth (MW-1 through MW-3, MW-5, MW-6, MW-8, VP-2, and VP-4)
and tremie concrete grouting from the bottom up the boring to 3' bgs, and then finishing with a
concrete mushroom cap and native/paving material to grade.
The Fact Sheet for public participation duplicates the header from the Regional Water Board's letters,
and then provides most of the information requested for the Fact Sheet in my 2 April 2009 letter.
The List of Interested Parties (Table 4 Participation Information Reference Table) provides the
addresses of parcels within 200' of the site, and the names and addresses of the owners of the
parcels. The City of Lodi is also listed in Table 4.
Comments:
1. Please note that the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department will issue the
destruction permits for the wells. Contact Harlin Knoll, (209) 468-3442 to obtain concurrence
for the proposed methods with their well destruction ordinance, and submit the application and
fees for the permit.
2. After Public Participation has been completed and any adverse comments have been
adequately addressed, you will receive final approval to abandon wells from Regional Water
Board staff.
California Environmental Protection A.-enc
ea Recycled Paper
