US
Mr.Marshall Cloud
10 June 2004
Page 2
A historical summary of the work performed near PZ4,PZ5, and PZ7,and destruction information of
the piezometers are presented in the remainder of this memorandum.
Bird and Lovely Road CPT Groundwater Investigation
Prior to installation of the piezometers along Bird Road, a CPT groundwater investigation was
conducted in the spring of 2001.During this investigation groundwater samples were collected from
CPT borings located along Bird and Lovely Roads, located to the east and north of the DDJC Depot,to
verify that groundwater contamination had not migrated further north and east of the Robertson
Property located along Banta Road.Groundwater samples were collected for VOC analysis. All results
were non-detect(ND).The results of this investigation are presented in Attachment 1.
Boundary Piezometer Installation
The boundary piezometers in question,PZ4,PZ5, and PZ7 were installed in June 2001 by URS under
county permit number SR0024773.Piezometer construction and lithology information is presented in
Table 1. The boundary piezometers are shown on the figure presented in Attachment 2.
Table 1. URS
field personnel obtained a business card from Mr. George Edwards, the field senior engineer for Nolte
Associates, who was present at the time URS personnel found the piezometers destroyed.
On 11 March 2004,URS field personnel confirmed that piezometer PZ-4 had also been destroyed or
buried under soil that may have been excavated during the installation of the pipeline. A 1-foot section
of 1'h-inch-diameter PVC pipe was found near PZ-4;however,neither the protective traffic cover,or
PVC casing for the piezometer were located.
K:%Wpr ess\00701\Tmcy1PZDestr ctionSJCEHDMemo.dw
