Use of recycled
water is subject to the regulations contained in California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 4 and
the requirements contained in the wastewater treatment facility's Waste Discharge Requirements
(WDRs). Application of wastewater to areas not described in the facility's WDRs is a violation of the
WDRs. Wastewater can be applied to new land application areas only after the WDRs are revised. To
revise the WDRs, a complete Report of Waste Discharge (RWD)must be submitted at least 120 days
prior to initiating the discharge.
The RWD should present the proposed land application areas and describe how the application of
recycled water will be accomplished in a manner that protects groundwater and surface water quality.
The RWD must include an engineering report as required by Title 22, Section 60323.
If you have any questions on this information, please telephone me at (916) 255-3116.
TIMOT R.
