0 •
' measured a distance of 20-feet between the western edge of the present-day
Manthey Road white line to the toe of the newly constructed soil berm that
' surrounds field 52a. The berm width is an additional 13-feet, so the total distance
separating the west edge of Manthey Road and the easternmost edge of field 52a
is 33-feet. The former location of LMW-5 is therefore more than 20 feet east of
' field 52a.
Based on these reconnaissance efforts, it appears that the eleven former wells
' and piezometers have been destroyed by farming or construction operations.
Their former sites are now located in developed areas outside the boundaries of
reclaimed water land application areas. Because the former well/piezometer
' sites are located outside land application areas and beneath roads or graded fill,
there does not appear to be significant potential for the former wells to serve as
direct conduits for reclaimed water to reach deeper groundwater.
' 3.0 DEVIATIONS FROM APPROVED WORKPLAN
' There were several deviations from the approved monitoring well installation
workplan. All deviations are considered minor or insignificant, and include the
following.
' Relocated MWM-11: Pre-existing piezometer P-3 was to be replaced by
MWM-11. However, P-3 was destroyed by construction activities subsequent
' to workplan approval and before monitoring well installation. Kleinfelder
personnel could not locate the destroyed well, and there was concern that if
installed at its planned location MWM-11 could soon also be destroyed.
' Monitoring well MWM-11 was therefore located about 500 feet southwest of
the location of P-3. The deviation was presumed acceptable because MWM-
11's objective is to monitor conditions west of Land Application Area 50. The
' location for MWM-11 is west of Land Application Area 50.
Additional well MWM-26: An additional well, MWM-26, was installed
' southeast of MWM-23. When the well installation program was initiated,
construction activities prevented access to the approved location for MWM-
23. Additionally, there was concern that if MWM-23 were installed it would
t likely be soon destroyed. To establish a replacement monitoring location,
MWM-26 was installed in a developed area as near to the approved location
t for MWM-23 as possible. As a follow-up on July 1 , 2005, MWM-23 was
installed at its approved location; MWM-26 was left in place as insurance
against potential damage to MWM-23 as development proceeds towards
' completion. Once construction activities have ceased, MWM-26 will be
abandoned and destroyed. A well destruction workplan shall be submitted
to RWQCB staff at least 30-days prior to destruction of MWM-26. Until that
' time, both MWM-23 and MWM-26 will be employed as part of the monitoring
network.
t
1
