r
Sarale Farms Page 2
16500 West Clifton Court Road January 10, 2013
Stockton, California 95206
• Observe the vacuum gauge connected to the system with a 'T'-fitting for at least one
minute or longer.
• 1f there is any observable loss of vacuum, the fittings are adjusted until the vacuum in
the sample train does not noticeably dissipate.
• After the shut-in test is validated, the sampling train should not be altered; and
•. The vacuum gauge should be calibrated and sensitive enough to indicate a water
pressure change of 0.5 inches."
As stated in the EHD letter dated 30 October 2012, the State Water Resources Control Board
Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund Five-year Review Summary Report, dated
September 2012, recommended that shallow soil samples. be collected and analyzed for
naphthalene to assess direct contact risks. Therefore, following the collection of soil gas
samples, the EHD directs that soil samples be collected at approximately three feet below
surface_grade from soil borings advanced approximately five feet from the three original soil gas
borings. Analyze the soil samples for naphthalene, TPH-g,-BTEX, MTBE, TAME and 1,2-DCA.
Compare soil concentrations to Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs) published by the San
Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board for health risks from direct exposure.
Submit a boring permit application, Master File Record form and permit/inspection fees to the
EHD and complete-the fieldwork by 27.March 2013. If you have any questions concerning the
information requested by the EHD, please contact Vicki McCartney at (916) 488-4152 or by
email at vmccartney@sjcehd.com.
Sincerely,
lictoria
L.
