k"F KLEINFELDER
' 20. Gillies Trucking, located at 3931 Newton Road, approximately 1700 feet east of the subject site
appears on the LUST, Cortese, and HIST UST databases. The facility appears on the CA FID
UST due to an inactive underground storage tank. Gillies Trucking appears on the AST database
due to a 10000-gallon aboveground storage tank. The facility appears on the LUST and Cortese
' database due to a leaking underground storage tank. The chemical involved is waste oil, the leak
is being confirmed, and the aquifer has been affected. MTBE was tested and detected at a
maximum concentration of 9.7 ppb in groundwater. The leak is currently being confirmed. The
property is listed in the CA FID UST and HIST UST database due to three UST's. Tank one is a
10000-gallon diesel tank, which was installed in 1974. Tank two is a 500-gallon waste oil tank,
which was installed in 1974. Tank three is a 2000-gallon unleaded fuel tank, which was installed in
1974 . See SJC/ EHD in section 4.2 (of the ESA) for additional information. Based on distance
from the site and the maximum MTBE concentration detected in groundwater beneath the site,
the facility appears to be a low risk to the subject site. In the event that contamination attributable
to Gillies Trucking is discovered on site, the expense and/or liability associated with any
' necessary investigation or remediation would typically fall upon the responsible party (i.e. Gillies
Trucking).
58671.E02/ST05R1127/DH:ly September 15, 2005
©2005 Kleinfelder, Inc.
